2) Left click on the Network icon, to get the Network configuration window.

Setting the Hostname Screenshot Link 5) In the resulting Host names window, complete as follows:

Host name: riscpc
Local Domain: my.home
Primary name server: 192.168.1.1

You may notice in the diagram, that there are entries for Local domain and Secondary name server. These are settings which are used for connection to my Internet Service Provider. If you connect to the internet with your Acorn, then you may need to put your ISP details in those spaces. Otherwise, you may find (like me) that you Web Browser and email don't work.

Setting the Host File Screenshot Link 6) Click on the Hosts file... button on the bottom of the window. Add the following entries under the loopback entry, and save the file:

192.168.1.1 riscpc.my.home riscpc
192.168.1.2 novapc.my.home novapc

7) Now left click on the Set button in the Host names window.

8) Click on the Interfaces icon. In the resulting window check if there is a line with a tick box in between the words: Serial and PPP. If there is a tick in the tick box then skip to stage 10), otherwise continue.

Enabling the PPP Interface Screenshot Link 9) Tick the tick box, and click on the now active Configure... button. In the resulting Serial:PPP window, complete as follows:

IP address: riscpc
Remote address: novapc
Netmask: 255.255.255.0

Select the Obtain IP address: Manually radio button.

10) Click on the Set button of the Serial:PPP window, then the Close button of the Interfaces window.

11) Click on the Close button in the Internet configuration window. Now click on Save in the Network configuration window. You will be asked if you want to reset, click on the reset now button, to restart the computer.
Setting the Routes File Screenshot Link 12) Now open the file called Routes in the ADFS::HardDisc4.$.!Boot.Choices.Internet directory.
Add the following line: route add riscpc 127.0.0.1

Save this file. (If RISC OS won't let you save the Routes, or Hosts files, you may need to change the Access parameters to Owner Write enabled (See Acorn User Guide for details)).

13) Now reboot again. This completes the TCP/IP configuration.
